Hex Aquarium Volume Calculation?
namatax - 2006-03-19 07:23:28 - FishHow do I calculate the number of gallons my hex aquarium holds? It's 25" tall and 17" across on the parallel sides. So, based on the first answer, I think X is 17". However, I don't get the formula given. Wait, the side is 10" wide.
Best Answer:
To calculate the volume measure the tank in inches length = front to back Width = along the parallel way follow this direction of your tank ----> depth = top to bottom. Volume = length x width x depth the result will be the Volume of the tank in cubic inches. To convert the cubic inches into gallons you have to multiply by 0.0043 or divide by 231. i.e. Hex Aquarium Volume: Volume = length x width x depth = 36 x 72 x 24 = 62,208 cubic inches 62,208 x 0.00433 = 269.36064 gallons take it as 269 gallons or 62,208 / 231 = 269.29870 gallons take it as 269 gallons I think this is the easy way for you to follow.
